Connie Suss and Mary Jane Van de Castle established bijin in 1988 in a small shop on Main Street. With over 20 years experience in the salon industry, Connie and Mary Jane bring a wealth of knowledge to the business. In 1998, bijin moved to the Prairie Village shopping center at 71st & Mission.

In 1999 bijin was featured in the Ingram's Best of Kansas City issue under the Best Day Spa category, receiving the Silver Award. Once again under the Best Day Spa category for the 2000 issue, bijin was featured and received the Gold Award.

We are proud to have been nominated by the Kansas City Chamber of Commerce as one of the Top 10 Small Businesses of the year, for 1999 and 2000. The Kansas City Magazine featured bijin as the winner of their "Best of" award for the past several years. Salon Today magazine has also featured bijin as one of America's 200 fastest growing salons.

In December 2002, Gabrielle Kaniger joined the team of owners. At bijin, we are continually in the pursuit of WOW! We are open Monday through Saturday with over 25 stylists, 6 Nail Techs, 8 massage therapists, 6 Estheticians and hundreds of products to service all your salon and spa desires.
